From October 23 to 27, The University of Seville (US), and specifically its Faculty of Law, will witness a revolutionary event for the sector: Artificial Intelligence Week.
Sponsored by Soltel GroupThe event already has more than 500 people registered in a series of days comprising a total 18 conferences and round tables which will bring together more than fifty experts in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the Administration, the business world and the university.
Three Key Players and a Comprehensive and Interdisciplinary Approach

At the opening ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Fernando Llano Alonso, highlighted the The event has received an impressive response from the Andalusian technology community., the public administration (European Parliament and Commission, Tax Agency, Senate and Regional Government of Andalusia) and the University. In addition, six more faculties of the University of Seville have joined in coordinating these conferences.
The purpose of these conferences is to showcase to the public the results of collaboration between the University, companies specializing in digital technologies, and public institutions at the European, national, regional, and local levels. The approach is eminently integrative and interdisciplinary, allowing attendees to to gain a comprehensive view of the impact of the digital and technological revolution, with AI at the forefront, on all aspects of society, highlighting the Justice sector. The presentations covered diverse areas, from computer science and telecommunications engineering to humanities, medicine, business, economics, psychology, and law.
The Legal Regulation of AI
One of the central points this week is the legal regulation of AI. In this regard, the European Union has established a globally recognized legal framework to protect citizens' personal data, rights and freedoms against potential abuses by large technology companies (Big Techs).
Moisés Andrés Barrio, lawyer for the Council of State and specialist in AI law, delighted us by presenting the origins, key concepts and foundations for this regulation in his conference. It was accompanied by two round tables that presented an introduction to the world of AI and robotics, as well as professors and experts in telecommunications engineering, such as Manuel Ortigosa Brun, and in Computer Science, Languages and Computer Systems, we enjoyed the remarkable interventions of Irene Díaz Rodríguez (University of Oviedo), Belén Díaz Agudo (Complutense University) and María José Escalona Cuaresma (University of Seville).
