HYQUM: SYSTEM FOR THE DETECTION OF MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION AND FOREIGN BODIES IN BEEF AND PIG MEAT, AND DETERMINATION OF PIGS’ DIET USING HYPERSPECTRAL TECHNOLOGY.

The project is financed by the CDTI and supported by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, with a grant from FEDER funds through the “Operative Program for Intelligent Growth 2014-2020”, and from CDTI’s equity.

Objective: Development of a non-invasive, real time detection system to determine the presence of microbial contamination and/or foreign bodies in beef and pig meat and also to infer the diet of Iberian pigs, by means of hyperspectral technology. The system analyses the pieces of meat at the process line and includes the results in the plant’s information system (ERP) so it can help in production and management decision making.
