Software process improvement has become a strategic element for software factories to develop with greater productivity, effectiveness, efficiency and lower cost both in Spain, as well as in Europe and Latin America.
At Soltel, we have obtained certification through the SPICE 15504 standard, an open and international standard for evaluating and improving process capability and maturity. This standard allows for assessments using maturity levels, currently the most widely used evaluation method.
This certification has required us to adapt our processes over the last nine months, during which we have worked very hard as a team. Thanks to this, we have obtained excellent scores in the evaluation. Among Soltel's strengths, the evaluation highlighted its agile management of software projects, with extensive integration throughout the development process. It also gave a very positive assessment of the definition, development, and application of tests, covering the entire project.
The main reasons why software factories choose to certify their processes can be:
- Which represents a competitive advantage and a differentiating factor
- Increased customer satisfaction level
- Productivity improvement
- Reduction in the number of incidents
- Compliance with regulations for public tenders
- It facilitates international development
Furthermore, there are a number of advantages for the software company in obtaining this certification: the fact of having an international and open ISO standard, easier integration with other ISO standards in the ICT sector, or that the cost of certification is usually lower compared to other similar models.
