Soltel launches the first Chair of AI and Public Law in Spain: key points from the interview with Antonio José Sánchez

Artificial intelligence is already impacting public decisions, essential services, and fundamental rights. In this context, Soltel and the University of Seville They launched the Soltel Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Public Law, the first in Spain specializing in the study of the legal implications of AI in the field of Public Law, with a special focus on Administrative Law.

In January 2026, the professor Antonio José Sánchez SáezThe Chair's director delves into these challenges in an interview in esRadio Sevilla, addressing topics such as regulation, guarantees and the impact of disinformation and deepfakes on democratic quality.

A pioneering project with a direct impact on Public Administration

At Soltel, we participated in the creation of this Chair with a clear objective: to promote research, training and knowledge transfer on the use of advanced technologies in Public Administration, reinforcing an approach of responsible AI and aligned with legal guarantees.

The University of Seville itself places this Chair among its recent milestones in specialized training linked to Law and AI.

What is the Soltel Chair of AI and Public Law?

The Chair was established as a stable space for university-industry collaboration to study and propose frameworks for guaranteeing and ensuring accountability in the use of AI in the public sector. Its main lines of work include:

  • Conferences and congresses on AI regulation and legal challenges.

  • Joint research between the University of Seville and Soltel.

  • External internships for law students in technological projects.

  • Development of LegalTech tools aimed at the ethical and safe use of AI in the public sector.

Key ideas from the interview: regulation, guarantees and democratic challenges

The interview highlights one central idea: technology advances faster than the standard, this requires control frameworks and safeguards when AI affects public rights and decisions.

In addition, a challenge that already exists is addressed: fake news and deepfakes, and its capacity to erode public trust and strain democratic processes.

Another relevant aspect of the dialogue is the need for a regulatory response at European level proportional to the scope of these phenomena and the weight of the large technology platforms.

From research to transfer: applicable knowledge

At Soltel, we believe that impactful innovation doesn't stay confined to the laboratory: it translates into applicable tools, methodologies, and practices. That's why the Chair promotes knowledge transfer to the public sector through research, training, and collaboration with institutional networks.

This initiative also reinforces our commitment to talent and collaboration with the university environment.
