On February 11th, on the occasion of International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Soltel visited the Santa Joaquina de Vedruna School in Seville, with whom a thematic meeting was organized to promote new female role models in the technology sector.
In it, Isabel Peña, Director of Innovation and Development in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Soltel Group, shared with the students an inspiring talk about the importance of studying science and technology in today's world, sectors that perpetuate certain gender stereotypes that must be combated.
The importance of science and technology in our future
During her speech, Isabel highlighted how Data is the fuel of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with Data Science being the engine that drives innovation.. Furthermore, he conveyed how disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, physics, and computer science are the basis of its operation.
Throughout her presentation, Isabel showcased AI applications in diverse fields such as health, sports, robotics, biotechnology, and the business world, presenting practical examples and real-world case studies of how technology transforms our lives everyday.
Inspiring future generations
Beyond transmitting scientific and technological knowledge, the main objective of the talk was to motivate, especially the female students, to imagine the impact they can have on the world by setting aside erroneous gender stereotypes. Isabel encouraged all the students to turn their dreams into tangible projects and to visualize how studying science and technology can generate positive change in society, it is also a sector with great job potential.
On the other hand, reference was also made during the speech to the Responsible Artificial Intelligence. Thus, the young people were able to reflect on the importance of developing ethical, inclusive and unbiased technologies, as well as ensuring their sustainability and benefit for all of society.
