REDUCIT

The Reducit project focuses on the Design and implementation of an advanced system for monitoring and managing the water status of crops.

This innovative approach will enable the robust application of Controlled Deficit Irrigation (CDI) techniquesThis involves adjusting the water supply and monitoring its proper application to the actual needs of the crops. This approach, based on the continuous and precise analysis of plant and soil conditionsThis will allow the establishment of new irrigation systems, thus ensuring a more sustainable use of water adapted to the specific conditions of each crop, as well as its widespread adoption by the sector.

The initial use case for the project will be focused on woody crops, with special emphasis on the citrus sector due to its relevance in Andalusian irrigated agriculture and its potential for water saving.

The project is structured in three work modules aimed at solving the current barriers related to monitoring the water stress of the crop, the automatic determination of the size of the fruit in a large and representative number, and the integration of the data into a platform that processes, interprets, allows visualization and dictates informed irrigation orders.

This project is funded by the Junta de Andalucía, Ministry of University, Research and Innovation within the framework of the PLAnd Sequía Andalucía call, co-financed by the FEDER Andalucía 2021-2027 Program.
