Having overcome three crises, its challenge is to orient its R&D towards the market.
Soltel IT Solutions celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year, a birthday it has just celebrated with a selection of its employees, who are approaching 300, a figure that will be surpassed at the end of 2022.
The technology group has taken stock of its 20-year journey and is proud to have overcome three crises that have left many companies in its sector behind: the 2007 financial crisis, in which one of its main clients, Sadiel, also went bankrupt, with the consequences that this entailed for Andalusian IT companies; the Abengoa crisis, which also ruined many of the projects they were involved in; and the Covid crisis, which paralyzed and canceled a large part of the business lines they were working on.
Soltel's CEO and founder, Julio Pérez, emphasized that all these obstacles have led the business group "to learn from our mistakes and take note of the strategies that aren't working for us." Thus, one of Soltel's main challenges now is to orient its R&D department more towards the market so that the products designed and manufactured in its factory meet society's needs and are more easily marketed than some of those they have produced until now.
Over the past two decades, Soltel has responded to the needs of more than 1,200 clients worldwide, collaborates on projects with other firms to address exciting challenges, and has established various lines of business through which it offers solutions. Another key pillar of Soltel is innovation, which has enabled it to provide tools for smart cities and excel in the use of Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining technologies for application in specific areas such as Precision Agriculture, Justice 4.0, Cognitive Administration, the Circular Economy, and environmental conservation. For many of these projects, Soltel participates in leading European and national consortia, becoming a benchmark within them.
eLex and legal files
One of their new ventures is eLEX, a software for managing legal files that represents a significant leap forward in the company's positioning within the specific and differentiated legal sector. Another noteworthy product is SIGA, the comprehensive system for managing Shareholders' Meetings, which has been used for several years by various top-division sports clubs, including Real Betis Balompié, SD Eibar, Deportivo Alavés, and Real Club Celta de Vigo.
Another area in which Soltel is excelling is digital administration, providing services to public bodies to make administrations more accessible to citizens.
The meeting held with staff to explain Soltel's history and future direction is part of the company's ongoing commitment to ensuring employees are fully engaged with the firm's goals. This employee-centric approach earned Soltel the Great Place to Work award in 2020 from the prestigious organization, which has been analyzing workplace experiences in companies worldwide for 30 years. Continuing this focus on employee motivation and increasing the profitability of a business group that doesn't distribute dividends in order to maintain a strong cash reserve to weather any challenges are among the goals Soltel has set for the new decade.
