{"id":9182,"date":"2017-05-08T19:13:25","date_gmt":"2017-05-08T19:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.soltel.es\/?p=2299"},"modified":"2025-08-08T11:52:47","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T11:52:47","slug":"la-historia-de-marta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.soltel.es\/en\/la-historia-de-marta\/","title":{"rendered":"Marta's Story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before reading this post, you should read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.soltel.es\/en\/hazlo-o-no-lo-hagas-pero-no-lo-intentes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Do or do not, there is no try.<\/a> (if you haven't already)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1795 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.soltel.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/YODA1.jpg\" alt=\"soltel-deline\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After many years of professional journey, bouncing from one company to another, accumulating friends in all of them and filling my backpack with mistakes, falls, successes and experience... life is curious, it brings me back to square one.<\/p>\n<p>We all know that beginnings are difficult, and the first contact with the working world is no exception. Whether as an intern or a trainee, it may not be as idyllic or educational as expected, but rather a \"waste of time\" for you and for the company. The latter, moreover, generally misses the opportunity to find new talent in order not to diminish the productive capacity of its real employees.<\/p>\n<p>Given this situation, you can imagine my weariness and lack of enthusiasm at the prospect of looking for a job in a professional field as different from my own and as inhospitable as programming, without experience or formal training. I have to start from scratch, with all the humility the situation demands. This time I landed on the \"Jail\" square!<\/p>\n<p>However, thanks to my sister's lack of knowledge about programming languages, and her poor judgment in job searches, I came across Soltel's training offer: \"Do you want to be a real Java Developer?\" it said\u2026<\/p>\n<p>And the person who interviewed me asked me the same question: \u201cWith the resume you have, do you really want to redirect your career towards programming? And spend 3 months training without getting paid?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, both the Soltel team and I see training differently. We view it as an investment in the future, regardless of time and money, that will have a positive impact on both the company and my career.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to what I expected when I \"signed up\" for an internship, I am carrying out tasks, experimenting and researching real projects and problems, which I will undoubtedly be able to apply in any job in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Another unusual aspect is that we are a group of 6 interns, an added advantage since we are being taught from day one the importance of teamwork, the ability to communicate, reach consensus and share problems and successes with colleagues, just as the company's own employees already do.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, strangely enough, I have gone from the \"shame\" of being an intern again, to the pride of being able to be a padawan.<\/p>\n<p>And what would a Padawan be without their Jedi? Yes, in this respect, Soltel also sees things differently. The most established and experienced team doesn't just produce and transmit its knowledge; each week, they reward the work and dedication of the person most voted for by their colleagues. Without neglecting their professional commitments, they create a more relaxed and enjoyable work environment with this geeky initiative.<\/p>\n<p>With the Yoda Award at stake, it's no wonder all the padawans want to stay on after their internships. This is also a real option offered by Soltel, as padawans from previous years are already on staff, with the possibility of professional advancement.<\/p>\n<p>So, despite finding myself back at square one, in a predominantly male environment and in a field that is not mine, I go to the office every day excited to solve new challenges or the errors in the code from the previous day, to ask my colleagues this or that, or to be able to share with them the latest thing I have discovered.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, being a padawan has re-motivated me to continue my programming training, and these three months without pay will translate into three valuable months of experience that I can contribute to future job applications. And who knows, maybe one day I'll even become a true Jedi!
